Forney Fire Station No. 2 Renovation / Addition
The existing 11,000 square-foot building currently includes 2.5 bays, nine dorms, and support spaces on a 3-acre site. The renovation will involve expanding the half bay into a full bay, replacing existing locker rooms with two new bunk rooms, adding a captain’s office and bunk room, updating the kitchen/dining/dayroom, reworking the bunker gear and server rooms, adding four shower/toilet rooms, and addressing water/vapor/ventilation issues in the existing crawl space. Site work will focus on resolving drainage issues and reworking existing paving to accommodate building modifications. The 6,300 square-foot addition will include a new bay (resulting in four drive-thru bays total), a training tower, a new exercise room, lawn storage, a tools/cascade room, and a covered patio. The attached training tower will feature stairs, three levels, floor drains, lighting, exhaust, shutters, a balcony, a training standpipe, roof top repelling, and synthetic turf.
