Recreation Center at Towne Lake Renovation / Addition

conduit architecture+design completed the renovation and addition of the McKinney Recreation Center at Towne Lake to introduce several design elements to improve functionality, aesthetics, and everyday use. The project modernized the existing facility while preserving its original character, including exposed stone and glulam beams.

The work included expanded restroom and lock room facilities, upgraded fitness and gym areas with high-performance flooring, and reimagined entrances that improve accessibility. Improvements also included updated kitchen and catering spaces with commercial-grade appliances, enhanced staff support areas, new storefront systems throughout, and fully updated MEP systems and waterproofing. A 1,300 square-foot classroom vestibule addition, new community conference space, expanded gathering areas, and a new 12-space parking lot further increased the building's capacity to support a wide range of programs for the community.
